Johnson & Johnson DePuy Recalls Popular Hip Replacements
Company said it was recalling the ASR Hip Resurfacing System and ASR XL Acetabular System after recent data showed that 1 out of 8 devices failed and required replacement surgery.

Johnson & Johnson DePuy said that 93,000 of these recalled hip replacement models have been surgically implanted into patients. The company decided to stop selling these models last December after reports about the high rate of failure began to surface. The failure rate in these devices is much higher than in competing products.
